The Senate has removed the Chief Whip of the House, Senator Ali Ndume on Wednesday following a letter by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) seeking for the action.
The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio read the letter signed by the National Chairman of the APC Abdullahi Ganduje.
The letter accused Senator Ndume of uttering some unethical words which has also discouraged investors from coming to invest in Nigeria.
It was after reading the letter that a vote was cast to confirmed the opinion of the members concerning removal of the Chief Whip of the Assembly, to which they all voted against Sen Ndume.
Ndume was also removed from the position of deputy chairman of the committee on budget. The senator is now placed in the committee on tourism.
Senator Tahir Munguno replaces Sen Ndume as the new Chief Whip of the Assembly.
It would be recalled that Senator Ndume is known for fearlessly criticizing the agenda of the government of President Bola Tinubu.
This is not the first time the Assembly is relieving it’s members from their positions as it removed the Senator Abdul Ningi who was accused of utterances capable of destroying the integrity of the Assembly.
This might also not not be unconnected with his statements on the BBC recently concerning budget padding.
