The Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented the highest ever budget in the state, of N1,368,127,929,271:00, to the State House of Assembly.
The budget, termed, “Budget of infrastructure, inclusive growth and sustainable development” was presented on Wednesday.
With a ratio of 68% – 32% for capital expenditure to recurrent expenditure, the budget has a capital expenditure of N932,640,032,101:00 and a recurrent expenditure of N433,487,897,170:00.
The governor also explained that education, health and infrastructure have taken the top priority in the 2026 budget.
Education with 31% is given NN403,350,318,751:00, health with 16% is given N212,250,500,044:11, while Infrastructure take N346,886,262,957:87 wallowing 25% of the 2026.
Governor described the 2026 budget as not just a fiscal document, but as a “covenant, a commitment to consolidate gains, complete key projects, and build lasting systems, that serve generations to come”.
“This is a clear evidence of our commitment to nurturing human capital development, safeguarding the well-being of citizens, and laying the physical foundation for sustainable development.
“While other important sectors, such as agriculture, security, water, commerce, investments and tourism, women youth and people with special needs, environment and climate change as well as transport development have received significant consideration in 2026 proposed budget” Governor Yusuf declared.
