The Kano State-owned television, Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), a foremost broadcast television station, is set to become a force to reckon with in the broadcast industry.

This was made known by the Acting Managing Director, Hajiya Hauwa Isa Ibrahim during the presentation of new equipments and modern tools to the station’s engineering department, recently in Kano.

Hajiya Hauwa mentioned how in the past, the station was the pride of the state and the entire northern region, especially in the area of broadcasting, entertainment, news and preservation of Kano’s rich treasures and culture.

“The equipments and tools you received today is the first phase of our intervention, which is borne out of the desire to revive and reposition this great station, in line with the vision of the people’s Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“So, as you receive these equipments, we urge you to put it into good use, and ensure periodic maintenance of facilities, and help keep the station afloat, which will enable other departments to function efficiently and
provide quality services and programs to our teeming viewers” she stated.

In his response, Engr. Abubakar Maccido, a Deputy Director at the Engineering Department, thanked the Acting Managing Director for her doggedness and resolve to turn around the ARTV, through her unflinching support to the department, which includes constant and proper maintenance of facilities in the department.

He emphasize the need to upgrade and change some facilities which has become moribund and obsolete, while also promising to work together with his team to ensure rapid transformation of the station, and put the equipment into good use.

Since assuming office, few months back, the Acting Managing Director has embarked on a massive repositioning and upgrade of the station, its structures, contents and quality of programs to meet with modern trends in broadcast.

She said the next phase of her reform would be the department of programs, and other sections as well as staff welfare.
