The Kano state Public Complaint And AntiCoeruption Commission (PCACC) has registered 1,359 cases within the period of nine years of it’s activities.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, while delivering a closing remark at the 2024 International Ombudsman Day in Kano on Thursday.

He explained that he met only 30 cases when he came in 2015 but due to the commitment of the commission it had attained the said figures despite the challenges.

Giving a breakdown, Rimingado said that 70 percent of the cases are ombudsman while 60 percent of the entire cases have successfully been resolved in courts.

Rimingado, explained that, “just last week I recovered N27 million through mediation and we even paid for some expanses, this clearly tells you that the country needs this kind of sub states antigraft agencies to support EFCC and others”.

He further noted that efforts are underway to enhance ombudsman in Kano and that the commission will continue to operate with synergy along with other agencies across the country.

Moreso, speaking on the issue of scrapping the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), being agitated for by some people, the antigraft tsar declared that they are not in support.

“We are not in support of scrapping out the the EFCC” he declared.

He explained that the event is held annually and papers are delivered to enhance the capacity of antigraft workers and expose them to new ideas.
