Following public reactions that have gone viral on social media calling on Nigerians for a mass protest, religious clerics have voiced out against the plan cautioning against the aftermath.

The residents who have remained faceless have spoken against the current economic hardships that include hunger and inflation across the country insisting thatbrher should be protest marches across the country to voice the anger of the public.

However, Islamic clerics who have separately spoken against the planned protests insist that nothing good would comes out of the said protest insisting that it will plunge the country into devastating woes and uncertainties.

Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar of Alfurqan Juma’at Mosque, says while preaching against the planned protest that Nigerians should look back and see what had happened to countries that faced similar situations and ended up in protests, claiming that they are regretting.

“Countries like Sudan, Libya, Iraq, and many others were living peaceful but with some economic difficulties, they were intoxicated with the idea of protesting against government, look at what those protests have now led their countries to.

“Islamic religion always teaches us peace, harmonious reconciliation and strategic means of channeling grievances. It prohibits taking unto the streets against the constituted authorities. We should rather seek divine intervention to salvage the situation” he stated.

Shiek Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, a preacher and Islamic cleric, who is also the Commander of the Shari’a police called Hizbah, claims that any time people choose violence over peace in resolving their situation, what would follow would be more devastating than where they were.

“We have seen several countries of the world where nobody cares about education, health, water or even some small businesses due to lack of peace. This is because they have choosen the path of protest against the government”.

Daurawa, further appealed to Nigerians to do all they can to shelve any idea of protest because the end result would be devastating against everybody. He cited the last #EndSars protests as another reasons.

More so, a respondent who spoke to Leadership on anonymity wants the religious clerics to rather speak to the government on the hardship of the the people and call them to order instead of speaking against the planned protest.

“I would have love to see these religious clerics talking to the Government on the unfortunate conditions of Nigerians, instead of condemning the planned protest alone” he said.
