The National Chairman of the Nigeria Elders Forum For Peace and Stability (NEFPS), Ambassador Bature AbdulAziz, has urged the Military to sustain the harsh tempo of fighting bandits in the country, while thanking the Ministers of Defense, Abubakar Badaru and Bello Matawale for relocating to Sokoto.

The Chairman of the Forum, noted while addressing newsmen in Kano Tuesday, that after their meeting, the fighting strategy of having the two defense Ministers closer to the scenes of the problems, has given ways to tackle the bandits headon.

“This strategy was first adopted by the military in the previous government of President Muhammadu Buhari on Boko Haram and many of them were killed while as we are speaking with you about 200,000 of the fighters surrendered” he said.

Ambassador Bature AbdulAziz, explained that what the fighting troops need now is serious welfare and the support of the generality of Nigerians to bring an end to the problem of insecurity.

“As elders, we are strongly behind the nation’s troops and indeed the defense ministers as well as the President on their effort of ensuring peace in the country. We assure you that we will not relent in our supports” he added.

He further appealed to the government and military to accept those bandits that are ready to surrender and hand over their weapons.

“They should ensure they take them to de-radicalization centers to treat them and set them on better reasoning.

“Government should accept those Bandits who are ready to surrender their nefarious actions and maintain peace in the country, but they should surrender with all their weapons and submit themselves to the military” he added.

The elders, commended President Tinubu for giving his full supports to the military and the entire Nigerian security, assuring the government that with what they are doing, Nigeria is on the path of peace.
