The Mundubawa residence of former Kano State Governor Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has been gutted by fire, destroying the living rooms of his third wife, Halima Shekarau.

News sources confirm that the fire which was suspected to have started from the Kitchen of the House, on Sunday night could not immediately be ascertained as to the cause of the inferno.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, Media Adviser to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the immediate past Kano Central Senator and one time Education Minister, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule said that the fire started this evening from the inner kitchen of the House which was at the ground floor of the multi-million naira mansion.

He said, “We thank God the fire only affected one of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s living rooms and already men of the State Fire Service had successfully put off the fire.

The spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi when contacted confirmed the Incident, however, he explained that for now, he will not comment on the cause of the fire because they are still putting things in order.

“We are still at the house and you know I cannot comment on anything now because we are still trying to make sure that the fire didn’t spread to other places”, he added
