Sen Sani Highlights Factors That Turn Protests Violent

As countdown to the date of the planned nationwide protest is closing up, efforts are being made by groups and individuals to ensure that the protest is devoid of any form of violence.

More so, calls have been made by groups and individuals for the government to listen to the cries of Nigerians and address the current hardship of which they are crying out and to ensure that the planned protest does not turn violent.

On his side, the renown human rights activist and politician, Senator Shehu Sani has highlighted factors that usually turn peaceful protests violent.

He stated this on his verified X handle on Sunday where he mentioned those factors based on his life experience and activism.

“Six factors that turns a peaceful protest into a violent one;

“Armed security forces shooting at protesters with live ammunition;

“Thugs among the protesters attacking and looting Shops, offices, homes and public facilities;

“Sponsored thugs attacking peaceful protesters;

“Protesters refusal to obey their leaders leading to loss of control;

“The Clashing of two opposing protest groups;

“The infiltration of Peaceful Protesters by others with ulterior motives” he stated.

As it is clear from the social media influencers behind the protest, they insist the protest will hold and have been calling on participants to ensure they observe peace and decorum, even as the Nigerian police says it will ensure it is peaceful.
