The Director General of the National Productivity Center, Dr Baffa Babba Danagundi has said that he will not be part of a conspiracy to discredit the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, over Senate’s decision to halt screening of Engineer Abdullahi Ramat as Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, (NERC).
Ramat’s name was forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu in October but the upper legislative chamber is yet to screen and confirm his appointment as stipulated by the enabling law.
A group led by one Alwan Hassan had pointed accusing fingers at the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin and Nasiru Gawuna for the delay in the screening.
Dr. Baffa Babba Danagundi swore by God that he will mention the names of those who came to him to join the campaign of calumny against Senator Barau Jibrin if they continue to discredit the leading Senator.
This incident prompted Ramat’s supporters to organize a press conference to express their views on the matter.
Baffa Babba Danagundi was also contacted to join in such an incident to smear Senator Barau Jibrin’s reputation on this issue of rejecting the nomination of Engineer Ramat by the Senate of Nigeria.
Danagundi said even though he belongs to the Gawuna-Garo political camp, Senator Barau Jibrin is a politician with dignity and therefore must be respected.
“Senator Barau is not at fault in this accusation. He, like other Senators, learned about what happened in the Senate just like every member.
“I will not be part of any conspiracy to discredit Senator Barau Jibrin,” said he.
