The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has vowed to deal decisively with any criminal, caught in the state during the planned nationwide protest.

Mr Jamilu Indabawa, the NSCDC Commandant in the state made this known while briefing newsmen in Katsina on Wednesday, regarding their preparations.

According to him, it had become necessary for all right thinking Nigerians to take note of the country’s current socio-economic, security and political situations.

“The serious situation has led to the planned nationwide protest. Hence the need for all to work towards ensuring a better tomorrow for the people of this country.

“While the right to express ourselves is our constitutional right, let us not forget that the expression of this right must be done within the ambit of the law.

“However, as we have seen on more than one occasions, criminals usually disguised as part of protesters, to cause havoc and commit crimes, such as destruction of critical national assets and infrastructure, including theft”, he said.

Continuing, ha said, “The Command is ready to deal decisively with any criminal, trying to. cause havoc, destruction of public utilities and other critical national assets/infrastructures, and any act of sabotage, or preventing law-abiding citizens from their lawful activities”.

According to Indabawa, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies had concluded plans to ensure maximum security against any form of crime and criminalities that could threaten law and order.

He explained that the command had detailed adequate number of armed, unarmed and undercover operatives, to achieve atmosphere of peace during and after the period.

“On this note, let me use this opportunity to admonish our teeming youths, participating in the protest to resist any temptation or inducements, by some unpatriotic elements who may try to engage them in any act that could undermine our peaceful coexistence”.
