The Emir of Katsina, Dr Abdulmuminu Kabir-Usman, has tasked the contractors handling the reconstruction of 147 kilometer Maraban Kankara-Katsina road project to ensure speedy completion as promised.

The Emir gave the task in Katsina on Sunday when he received on a courtesy visit, officials of Vipan Global Resources Limited, the company handling the project.

Reports say that the contract was awarded to the company by the Federal Government on April 2024.

The emir said he has been talking and appealing for reconstruction of many roads linking other states with Katsina since when he was a district head.

He said: “Roads are very important, because they are contributing so much to the economic development of any state, therefore, this road is important to us.

“I have spoken on the reconstruction of Kano-Katsina road on several occasion, since the regime of President Muhammad Buhari, but nothing has been done yet.

“The only thing I want to tell you here is that, we need this road badly, therefore, we want you to do a qualitative not quantitative work that can stand the test of time.

“Do it for the sake of Almighty Allah, because He is watching you. If you escape from here, you can’t escape from God. Therefore, I enjoin you to ensure quality job, so that people can copy from you.”

The emir commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the road project, while calling on him to also look into the possibility of capturing Kano-Katsina road.

Earlier, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Doumit Ters, had said that they have already commenced work even without the payment of mobilisation fee.

He said that the company was committed to providing a quality and long last road “that can be used for many years to come”.

While commending the emir for his support, Ters observed that the project, if completed, would boost the economy of the state, apart from easing the road transportation system.
