President Bola Tinubu, has been called upon to interfere in the recent crisis following the revocation of Katsina/Dutsinma, Marrarbar Kankara road contract by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, insisting that the action was targeted at destroying the good image and support the president is enjoying as a result of the contract.

Speaking in a release issued to newsmen in Kano and signed by the Katsina State Forum of Elders Spokesperson, Dr Namanga Danmajiya, he said that the road contract which was awarded by the same government of president Tinubu sometimes in April 2024, was cherished and welcomed by the overwhelming population of Katsina citizens.

“Because of the awards of the contract by President Tinubu, his popularity and support increased among the Citizens of Katsina as many welcomed it with happiness, because it will help them in the transportation of goods from across the federation” he said.

Dr. Danmajiya, notes that after the award of the contract, a special monitoring and supervision committee was created by the Katsina People who inch by inch they monitored how it was being carried out, and even commended the contractor for doing a good job.

The angry elders, stated that they don’t want to attack the personality of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi because the insinuation was that the Minister is allegedly revoking the contract in favor of his cronies companies, whom he has personal interest in.

They said they are aware that the 147 KLM Katsina, Dutsinma to Marrarbar Kankara road project was revoked on a flimsy excuses.

“We don’t want to believe and work on the allegations against the Minister that he revoked the contract because he has personal interest in them, as it is alleged that one of the contracting companies has his biological son as a Director”.

The Elders then called on President Tinubu to quickly intervene on the revocation to safeguard his already support and show of loves he had earned from the people because of the road contract.

They reminded that the road project which transcend to Niger Republic would help in inter-continental movement of goods and in the end Nigeria would be the greatest beneficiary of the project.

“We want to believe that the revocation of the road contract is not by president Tinubu, it is not his personal idea, because to everybody the President is a nationalist who believes in the good of every section of the nation. We want him to listen and do the needful by allowing the contract and contractor to continue their job” they disclosed.
