The Kano State government has commended the performance of the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) in the state as the Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) transforming the agric sector ends on the 31st of December, 2025.
This was stated by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mahmud Danjuma, when he received the stakeholders of the project at his office during a tour at the 2025 KSADP Media Field Day which is ongoing.
The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the performance of the SAA in the last five years of engagement with the state government.
“With us, we are glad to have associated ourselves with the SAA and in terms of performance they have done well in our own understanding and numerics” the commissioner stated.
Speaking on behalf of the project, the Country Director, Godwin Atser briefly explained that the KSADP project is a $95 million project funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Lives and Livelihood Funds and the government of Kano state.
The five years project focused on improving crop production and enhancing livestock productivity in the state executed under the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA).
He added that the SAA has attained significant success with the tremendous strides made in transforming the agriculture sector in Kano.
“SAA involvement in KSADP project, is rooted in our mandate to strengthen the extension system to promote climate smart agriculture and to enhance market expansion and empower small holder farmers.
“We are proud that our technical support has contributed significantly to the success of this program, especially in improving productivity, food security and inter-generation for households across the 44 local government areas of the state.
“Over the years the partnership has delivered unprecedented achievements through the combined efforts of the IsDB ( Islamic Development Bank), LLF (Lives and Livelihood Funds) and the Kano state government” he stated.
