The Judicial Commission Of Inquiry (JCI) on the recovery of misappropriated public properties and assets from May 2015 to 2023, inaugurated by the Kano state government has started it’s probe of the two terms of the immediate past Governor of the state, now National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.

The period under review, May 2015 to 2022, represents the direct two terms as state governor of Abdullahi Ganduje.

In his inaugural address on Monday, the chairman of the Commission Justice Faruk Lawan Adamu introduced members of the JCI and read out the terms of the oncoming public hearing while appealing to the JCI to avoid temptation to politicize it’s work saying that such will be detrimental to the success of its fact finding mission.

As part of the terms of reference of the commission, it will review the sale, disposal or allocation of all government owned properties, institutional buildings, including school buildings, government hospitals, praying grounds, historical and cultural sites and monuments, graveyards, and other open lands and spaces within Kano urban area or other urban land areas belonging to Kano state within the said period under review.

“To review the sale, disposal or allocation of all government-owned offices, houses, workshops and any other public building or land belonging to the State or local government council anywhere and outside the state/local government from 29th May, 2015 to 29th May, 2023;

“To provide a comprehensive inventory of all such affected properties, to determine the cost or value at which such sales, disposal of allocation were made and also provide the estimated current market value of such properties;

“To determine the individuals, companies, agencies or entities to which such sale, disposal or allocations were made whether such properties have changed hands and if so to whom;

“To determine the propriety of such sale, disposal or allocation and make appropriate recommendations;

“To determine if any abuses have been perpetrated in the process of such sale, disposal or allocations and identify the officials or persons responsible for such abuses” he stated.

He also stated that the Commission will make recommendations on such recoveries that were improperly sold out to individuals or companies

He asked for the maximum support and cooperation of the public and media while calling on anyone with useful information that will benefit the Commission to bring it forward.
