A leading Kano politician and member of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Danbilki Kwamanda has cried out saying the Kaduna state governor Uba Sani instructed policemen to abuse his fundamental rights and torture him.

He made a video on Thursday revealing the injuries he sustained as a result of the torture saying they even threaten to drown him in the river.

In an earlier video that had gone viral in public he was shown handcuffed and was beaten by some men who even instructed him to kneel down.

He was badly beaten and was pleading with them that he is a diabetic patient warning that they should stop bitting him which they refused and were heard asking him why he insults Uba Sani. He insisted that he did not insult him but they continued beating him.

Revealing what happened to him in the video he said “these injuries you are seeing on my body were inflicted by policemen who picked me up and handcuffed me.

“They were asking me why I was insulting Uba Sani, insisting that it was Uba Sani that instructed them to torture me.

“They beat me with koboko, kicked me and even took me to a waterside threatening to kill me by throwing me inside.

“All these spots on my body were inflicted as a result of the torture. When they finished they decided to release me.

“I can identify some of them and even the place they took me to and did what they did” he said.

He explained that they videoed the entire process when they embarrassed him adding that “It was Uba Sani that instructed them because they mentioned his name all through.”

Meanwhile the the Kaduna state government has ordered an investigation following the viral video showing unidentified people assaulting popular radio politician Alhaji Abdulmajid Dan Bilki Kwamanda.

The chief press secretary to Kaduna state governor Muhammad Lawal Shehu disclosed this in a statement sent to journalist in Kaduna on Thursday.

“The attention of the Kaduna State Government has been drawn to a video that has gone viral showing one Dan Balki Commander being whipped by unidentified persons. In the video, accusing fingers were pointed at the Kaduna State Government.

“The Kaduna State Government wishes to strongly disassociate itself from the heinous act. It is not in our character. Such barbaric acts have no place in a decent society.

“We stand for the rule of law and due process. Our administration is anchored on justice, equity, fairness, inclusivity and respect for the dignity of the human person.

“Since assuming office in May 2023, Kaduna State Government under the able leadership of Senator Uba Sani has been working assiduously to rebuild trust and give all citizens of the State a sense of belonging. We accommodate all shades of opinion and have created a conducive atmosphere for all political views to thrive.

“The Governor of Kaduna State is a long standing fighter for fundamental rights and freedoms. He has never wavered in his commitment to the promotion and protection of civil rights, rule of law and due process. He will not, under any circumstances, detail anyone to brutalize a person for holding a contrary opinion.

“His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani has therefore ordered full investigation into the alleged incident. He is determined to get to the root of the incident and will ensure that the full wrath of the law is brought to bear on anyone found culpable” the statement reads.
