The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has on Monday arrived Banjul, the Gambian capital, on a two-day official visit.
A statement issued by palace said the visit is on the invitation of the Gambian President, Adama Barrow.
According to the statement, Sanusi was invited as a Special Guest of Honour at the 60th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of the Gambia.
He was received on arrival at the Banjul Airport by Ministers and other host Government dignitaries.
Later in the evening, the Emir joined President Barrow and the First Lady of the Gambia, Mrs Fatumatou Bah Barry, at a State Banquet as part of the Gambian 60th Anniversary celebrations.
He was ushered into the Banquet hall with a very warm and rousing welcome.
The main celebration will continue on Tuesday with a special parade by the Gambian Armed Forces at the Banjul Grande square.
Sanusi is being expected back home later in the day,the statement added.
