Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin has Inaugurated 107 buses for Kano North Transport Service in North West Nigeria.

Launching the 107 buses at the new Bichi Stadium, Bichi Local Government Area which attracted a mammoth crowd, Senator Jibrin said, the idea behind facilitating the transport project was to ease the problem of transportation within his senatorial district and across Kano state.

He noted that, the gesture was also designed to empower the people who are mainly businessmen and agrarian in nature.

The 107 buses, were single-handedly purchased by Senator Jibrin and made available to beneficiaries at a subsidized rate, under hire-purchase scheme.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across all the Local Government Areas in Kano North senatorial district.

An official of NURTW, Malam Rabi’u Bichi who spoke in an interview expressed appreciation and described the gesture as first of its kind by any politician in Kano.

He said, “Senator Jibrin has made us proud. His empowerment programmes always have positive impact on the masses. You can imagine how many families that will benefit directly from this initiative.

“You can also agree with me that the launching of these 107 buses will go a long way to easing the challenges of transportation in Kano North and the entire Kano state.

“We are praying to God to keep blessing Senator Jibrin because of the way he keep empowering not only people from Kano North but everybody in Kano state. We do hope that other politicians will follow his foot-steps,” he said.

Others who spoke, commended Senator Jibrin for his interventions in roads constructions, scholarship schemes and provisions of other social amenities in Kano North Senatorial zone.
