A division of the Appeal Court, sitting at Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano state has dismissed a suit filed by business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata over possession of a landed property in the state.

A local FM radio station in Kano, Express FM, on Thursday reported that the land dispute between the family of one late Sharu Ilu and Dantata over possession of a trench located at Gwammaja area in the Kano metropolis started about five years ago.

The family of late Ilu, through their Counsel, Yahya Y. Sharif dragged the elder statesman to a High Court in Kano, claiming the possession of the trench.

But Justice Usman Na-Abba of the Kano State High Court, who presided over the case, passed the judgement in favour of the plaintiff.

Dissatisfied with the judgment, however, Dantata, through his lawyer, Ms Veronica challenged the judgement at the Appeal Court in Kano.

Delivering the judgment on Wednesday, the Appeal Court ‘s judge, Justice U A Musalli, dismissed Dantata’s suit and affirmed the judgement of the lower court.

Musalli averred that the defendant in the appellate court is the rightful owner of the said property.

He said the court is ready and willing to serve a copy of the judgement to both parties, and that any party that feels dissatisfied could appeal at the higher court.

However, Counsel to the plaintiff, Veronica did not speak when journalists approached her for comments.

However, the defence Counsel, Sharif, expressed happiness with the judgement, which he said they had expected from the onset.
