The planned construction of a world class hospital in Kano by the Chief Executive of Tiamin Multi-Services Global Limited, the renown international business tycoon, Aminu Ahmad, has continued after a Kano High Court gave judgement returning the disputed hospital land to him.
In a high profile case before the court, the land on which the world class hospital is to be constructed, located along Court Road, Gyadi Gyadi, Tarauni, in the municipal, was revoked by the immediate past government about six years ago, and has now, in a landmark judgement, been handed back to Tiyamin along with with a compensation of N2.6 billion.
In a ceremony on Saturday, Aminu Ahmad thanked God Almighty for the breakthrough which he described as a victory to all and not just for him alone.
“This victory is not just for me as a person but for everyone who believes in truth and fairness” he stated.
It would be recalled that the former Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje ordered the demolition of the multi-million Naira property owned by Tiamin six years ago after revoking all documents related to the ownership claiming urgent public interest.
However, Ganduje constructed some classroom blocks on the land but ere not put to use by administration.
It was as a result of this that Tiamin took the matter to court along with two others demanding return of the land, validation of it’s documents and seeking damages as well.
In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice Ibrahim Musa of the Kano High Court granted an order for special damages against the government for illegal demolition of the property belonging to Tiamin Multi-Services Global Limited and the court awarded N2.6 billion as damages to be paid by government.
Addressing newsmen on the matter, council to Tiamin, Saidu Muhammad, explained that the case had been in the court since 2019 and judgement was delivered in the case on Wednesday.
“We used the state government in 2019, that is about six years ago due to what we considered as illegal seizure of a land that is legally owned by our client.
“The land was meant to be used for the construction of a world class hospital that will curb medical tourism in the country as well as brain drain in the health sector.
“The plan was for a renown citizen to hell build a world class hospital that will save the health sector from the current challenges it is facing, as this will even attract health tourists from outside the country, and my client took it up upon himself.
“Unfortunately, without any notice or arrangement, the government then, clampdown on the property and demolished everything there using thugs and other security agents.
“Seeing that this is a very wrong thing to do, we had no option but to seek redress in court, which we did and the court now delivered judgment in our favour.
“Now that the property in back, the initial plan of constructing the world class hospital will continue. This is meant to redeem the health sector in the state and the country at large” he stated.
