Preparatory to the Eid El Kabir celebration, the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has announced that plans have been completed for him to lead Eid prayer at the Kofar Mata Eid ground in the municipal.

The announcement is contained in a statement signed by a senior Emirate Councillor, Abbas Sanusi and made available to newsmen in Kano on Friday.

The announcement made it clear to all district heads and other traditional leaders in the state that the earlier announcement made for the invitation to the Eid durbar festivities has been cancelled.

However, they are asked to be present at the Kofar Mata Eid ground by 8:00am, where Aminu Ado Bayero is going to lead the Eid prayer on Sunday.

“This is sequel to the announcement by the police cancelling the durbar festivities in the interest of protecting security and ensuring peace in Kano.

“We thank the public for their understanding as well as the police for ensuring peaceful coexistence and protection of life and property in the state” part of the statement reads.

The announcement is contained on the Kano Emirate Council, Council Secretariat letter headed paper, dated 14th June, 2024.

Meanwhile, no announcement has been issued on the same subject matter by the enthroned Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II who is expected to lead the Eid prayer at the same venue.
