Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has forwarded names of six persons to the state House of Assembly for screening as commissioners to fill the remaining empty positions since an earlier cabinet reshuffle last week. The Speaker of the House, Ismail Jibrin Falgore, announced this while reading the governor’s letter during plenary. The nominees include, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, Shehu wada Sagagi, Dr Dahiru Mohd Hashim, Dr Isma’il Dan Maraya, Gaddafi Sani Shehu and Abdulkadir AbdulSalam. An early morning fire outbreak at Rangaza community in Ungogo local government area of Kano state had claimed the lives of a couple. The couple identified as a 67-year-old Muhammad Uba and his wife, Fatima Muhammad, 52, were said to be trapped by the smoke of fire that engulfed their apartment during the incident.
