The BBC Hausa service has on Thursday reported that 118 prisoners have escaped the Correctional Service Centre (CSC) at Suleja, Nigeria State, after the wall of the centre collapsed due to heavy downpour. The spokesperson of the CSC at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adamu Duza has in a statement he released on Thursday stated that “due to the heavy downpour that lasted 24 hours, parts of the Correctional Service Centre were destroyed and 118 inmates have escaped”. Some Kogi State youths have protested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) plans to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello. The anti-graft commission is investigating the former Kogi governor for suspected 80.2 billion naira fraud. The youths, led by the Coalition of Civil Society for Democracy and the Africa Youths Coalition for Justice, assembled in large numbers and barricaded the Lokoja-Abuja Road, causing gridlock on the federal highway.
