Kano State Government has disclosed that it spends approximately N1.2 billion monthly, equivalent to N14.5 billion annually, to provide potable water in Kano metropolis. The state’s Commissioner for Water Resources, Ali Makoda made the revelation while speaking with journalists in Kano on Wednesday, explaining that the cost includes monthly expenditure of N400 million for diesel, N387 million for chemicals, and N280 million for electricity bills, alongside other additional costs. “There are also other costs. The BBC Hausa service has on Thursday reported that 118 prisoners have escaped the Correctional Service Centre (CSC) at Suleja, Nigeria State, after the wall of the centre collapsed due to heavy downpour.
