The Arewa People’s Unity Association (APUA) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of a new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) while commending the outgoing CDS, General Christopher Musa, for his exemplary dedicated service to Nigeria.

At a press conference in Kaduna, APUA National Chairman Alhaji Adamu Aliyu praised President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

“We acknowledge the President’s thoughtful decision in appointing a new CDS, who we believe will bring renewed energy to the armed forces,” Aliyu said.

The group further lauded General Musa’s leadership and contributions to national security, particularly in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

“His efforts remain commendable,” Aliyu stated.

APUA expressed confidence that the new CDS will build on existing achievements and called for continued security reforms to improve operations nationwide.

The group urged the Federal Government to uphold equity, competence, and constitutional procedure in future security appointments.

The association also encouraged the Senate to remain diligent in screening and confirming service chiefs, emphasizing the importance of fairness and representation across all regions in security leadership.

“Inclusive security management strengthens unity and public trust,” Aliyu stressed.

APUA called for improved oversight of security institutions, such as immigration and customs, to ensure accountability and effective service delivery.

“We remain committed to peace, unity, and justice. Security reforms must be grounded in transparency, fairness, and national interest” he added.
