Aminu Alhassan Dantata Dies At 94

Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, the renown Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, has died at the age of 94.

He died Saturday morning after a prolonged ailment. However, burial arrangements are yet to be announced as at the time of the announcement.

His death was confirmed by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid saying he died in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he was receiving treatment.

Dantata who was born on 19th May 1931, hails from the family of Alhassan Dantata, the renown Kano international businessman, is a renown business mogul in Nigeria.

He had served as a commissioner for planning and development under governor Audu Bako of Kano state from 1967-1972.

He was in the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) from 1978-1984, but was earlier with the Northern People’s Congress 1959-1966 and the Northern Elements Progressive Union before 1959.

Dantata was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd and one of the organizers of Jaiz Bank in Nigeria.

He was one of the representatives of Kano state during the 1999 constitution amendment.

He is a grand uncle of the renown richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote. He lost his wife Hajiya Rabi Dantata in 2023.
