Darkness takes over Nigeria on Saturday July 6th as the National Grid collapsed for the sixth time in 2024.
The data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), showed that the grid collapse occured at 3pm on Saturday is yet to be restored as at the time of filing this report.
It would be recalled that the nation last witnessed collapsed grid which plunged the nation into total darkness on Monday, April 15, 2024.
Confirming the collapse, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company via its official X (Twitter) account said all its interfaces in the Transmission Company of Nigeria stations are out of supply.
A statement signed by its Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, said the DisCo was unable to provide services to its customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
“The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company wishes to inform its esteemed customers of a general system collapse which occurred at 15:09 hours today, 6th July 2024.
“This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.
“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States,” Ezeh said.
It further noted that the DisCo would be on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
