The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is contesting in the Miss Universe pageant for the first time in history, thereby allowing the contestant to display her bodily beauty to all kinds of spectators.

Rumy Alqahtani, a 27-year-old Riyadh-born model, is the one representing the Kingdom at the pageant.

She is only the second woman from the Gulf region to participate in the pageant, following in the footsteps of Miss Universe Bahrain who took part in the pageant last year.

This is the latest in series of adjustments to the hardcore Saudi Islamic values in it’s effort to becoming liberal. Earlier the Saudi authority had allowed women to drive, alcohol to be sold to foreigners except in Mecca or Madina, among other changes.
