The National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) had announced that there will be a total eclipse of the sun on the 8th of April 2024 that can only be viewed in places around United States, Mexico and Canada.
The last time this type of total eclipse occured was 364 years ago where the moon entered between the sun and the earth and it’s shadow created darkness during the day.
More so, after the 8th April, 2024 total eclipse, the next total eclipse will take place in the next 365 years.
The Monday, April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The total solar eclipse will begin over the South Pacific Ocean.
Weather permitting, the first location in continental North America that will experience totality is Mexico’s Pacific coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT.
The eclipse of the sun takes place when the moon enters between the earth and the sun and it’s shadow falls on the earth thereby creating darkness in the day time.
On the other hand, the eclipse of the moon takes place the earth is between the moon and the sun and the shadow of the earth covers the moon.
However, this is said to affect the viewing of a new crescent that will mark the end of Ramadan which will make the lunar month 30 days instead of 29.
Scientifically, the moon reflects the light of the sun to earth. During an eclipse and for the period of the eclipse, those in the other time zone outside the eclipse zone will not be able to see the reflection of the light of the sun from the moon until the next day.
This is why the Ramadan this year might be 30 and not 29 as it has been in the previous years.
It has been a normal phenomenon that whenever there is an eclipse, whether of the sun or of the moon, the lunar month counts 30 days.
